Summary

Bwin is one the largest gaming companies in the world. They have business interests in both regulated and unregulated markets and offer players online sports betting, poker, and casino gambling all from the same account.

Bwin Interactive Entertainment, formerly betandwin.com, was established in 1999 out of Austria. It operated in over two dozen markets and had over 20 million registered users.Bwin merged with PartyGaming plc in March 2011.

PartyGaming has a long history in online gambling pre-merger. The company was founded in 1997 with the launch of an online casino, the Starluck Casino. They are most famous for their online poker platform, PartyPoker, which was a pioneer in online poker markets, and still operates today. After the merger had been completed, it was opened to the public. 48.4% of the stock was owned by existing PartyGaming shareholders while the other 51.6% by former Bwin shareholders.

In September, 888 Holdings and GVC Holdings, two gaming companies got into a bidding war to acquire Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment. The company confirmed that they accepted the winning bid of £1.1 billion on September 4th, 2015. The transaction was completed on February 1st, 2016.

GVC Holdings plc is headquartered in the Isle of Man. It was initially founded in Luxembourg in 2004 as Gaming VC Holdings. They are publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol, GVC. In addition to acquiring Bwin.Party, they purchased long time British bookmaker, Sportingbet. The Government of Gibraltar licenses Bwin and they regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commission. They are also licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

Bwin and Party continue to operate as separate brands. Neither .com site currently accepts American residents. However, Party Poker through a partnership with the Borgata casino is licensed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming to offer online poker and casino games to New Jersey citizens.

A Personal Opinion on Bwin Sportsbook

What We Like About Bwin

Although their reputation isn’t squeaky clean like some online bookmakers that have been around since the turn of the century or longer, they are still one of the safest bets to be paid in online betting markets.

Bwin’s betting options are nearly limitless. They rival (or exceed) some of the UK’s largest bookmakers when it comes to number of markets and sports offered. Pre-match and in-play betting options are both plentiful, but the company seems to be heavily focused on live betting.

Although they have pulled out of several grey markets, Bwin might be the most international bookmaker around. Their web page is fantastically designed, and better yet, it’s translated in over 23 different languages.

What We Don’t Like About Bwin

The biggest complaint we seem to come across online with Bwin is their support. They are much too large of a bookmaker to have shotty support. Instances like this one, should not be happening with a bookmaker that is a top rated shop at some sportsbooks. We’re not saying they’re a bookmaker that you should avoid because of this issue. It’s just something that bettors need to be aware of before deposit. Their service staff, on the whole, still seems above average.

Strangely, they don’t have 24-hour support for any of their mediums. That seems like an oversight on their part considering their size. They have to be the largest gambling site online by a large margin without around the clock support.

They have a few offers, similar to Paddy Power’s ‘Money Back Specials’ but they don’t appear to pack quite the punch that the Irish bookmaker brings with their promotions. There is doesn’t appear to be any VIP program or point redemption program for sports betting, but there is one for casinos and poker.

Their odds are just so-so. In this market, that can be killer. There are a lot of sites to visit before you head over to Bwin. Their markets aren’t necessarily sharp, but their over-round is higher than most bookmakers. Although, their in-play odds do seem to be a lot more competitive.

Nevertheless, there must be some inefficient markets worth attacking because Bwin has a reputation of cutting the betting limits of winners rather quickly. There are countless threads online about Bwin limits players to a maximum of £50 or their currency equivalent. They also have a rather low maximum winning amount, especially consider the size of scope of their operations.

Bwin Betting Site – Deposits and Withdrawals

B-

Payment
Processing Grade

Lots of Cashier Options, But Slow Speeds

Bwin’s list of cashier options is among the largest we’ve seen for an online bookmaker. They have an extensive list of accepted currencies and many local deposit options depending on your jurisdiction.

The most popular deposit method will likely be by credit card or debit card. They accept both MasterCard and Visa. There are no fees for depositing and withdrawing with any credit or debit card. However, with e-wallets, such as Neteller and Skrill there is a 3% charge on withdrawals. This is extremely rare for an operator of their size. Bwin drops the ball by not covering these fees for customers.

To make matters worse, they also charge for bank wire withdrawals and have a minimum amount of $50,000 before players can request a bank wire payout. We guess not many of these are requested and processed.

Withdrawals speeds are all over the place. It seems the general feeling after reading feedback from customers that Bwin has below average speeds, but they are still honoring all requests, from all methods within 7-10 days. These rates are below the industry standard. Many operators process the majority of their withdrawals within 24-48 hours, but they are still far from slow-paying or rogue territory.

Bwin Review – Sportsbook Bonuses

Welcome Offer

New customers to Bwin will receive a 100% bonus up to £30 on their first deposit. The minimum bonus amount is £10. The bonus comes with a 3x rollover. The free bet will only be available if you’re registering for Bwin for the first time. If you have previously had an account in the online casino or poker room, you are not eligible. This is a nice little bonus, and unlike many bookmakers, it is a true freeplay bonus instead of a risk-free bet rebate. The bonus will be released in two increments after betting begin placing real money wagers.

Bwin Review Highlights

Elite Betting Software, Tons of Markets

If Bwin were rated just on their interface and betting software, they might be the best bookmaker online. The sports and number of markets available are extremely impressive, and although a lot is happening on your screen, navigating around and placing bets couldn’t be simpler.

Their most popular markets are listed in the upper left-hand corner of the day. Clicking on a sport, and placing a selection doesn’t require a page reload, and wow, is their software fast. One of our top features, unique to Bwin (at least we haven’t seen it anywhere else) is favorite market preferences. Customers can star their favorites markets and have easy access to them as soon as they log in. It can save a lot of time, particularly because of the sea of options at Bwin.

The left side of the screen also has a live total of the number of markets they currently offer. It’s typically at least 15,000 or more. There is also a ‘last minute bets’ button that allows punters to check for value quickly in the final seconds of pre-match markets.

As far as sports available for betting, there are few sports or leagues that Bwin doesn’t provide. It’s not worth our time to list them all here, but if someone in the world is taking bets on it, there are probably odds available.

They don’t necessarily have a focus on a particular area, but there will be more betting markets on high profile European sports, such as football and soccer compared to say compared to less popular sports like darts or handball.

Software aside and number of markets aside, their odds are just average. It’s not particularly an operator you would look at immediately for the best price. However, in-play betting markets seem to reduce the bookmaker’s edge. Their live betting options and interface are as excellent as the pre-match betting options if not better.

Low Maximum Payout

Unlike most other bookmakers, Bwin doesn’t list their maximum payout limits. Instead, the when customers place a wager, they will be notified if they’re trying to bet more than the maximum. They will then have to adjust their stake. At a few places online it says that they have a maximum payout per week of £100,00 which would be quite small. Although, it may make sense due to the number of issues that punters have gone through with their accounts being limited.

Bwin seems to be extremely aggressive in dropping players who are on a hot streak or that manages deems to be sharp. Betting steam and only betting +EV wagers will surely get their attention quickly. Once they limit you, your maximum bet may be only around £100. With that said, Bwin is definitely not a sportsbook for the professional level bettor or someone who is looking to win more than six figures. It’s likely that they will be limited long before they reach the £100,00 figure.

Bwin Sportsbook Support

Live Chat Available

00442039380862

As touched on in the above section, the lack of 24/7 support team isn’t a deal breaker, but it’s not something you would expect from an operator of their size. One major mistake they made was not including a live chat operator during regular business hours.

Support is provided by email or phone. We’ve seen mixed responses with support. Universally, however, speeds seemed to be a bit slower when handling issues. Many players were relieved with finally connecting with a representative to get their problem fixed promptly, but too many others complained of not getting responses for days or even a week later.

Bwin – Average Option For Sports Betting

Despite their size, Bwin is just an average choice for bettors. They’re not quite squeaky clean Even their affiliates have issues with them, but they’re still one of the most trustworthy shops when it comes to being paid, despite the slow speeds. Grab a bonus, enjoy the software and try out the live betting, just don’t go in expecting too much.

The upcoming review of the BWIN sportsbook is going to give you a full-scale breakdown of what you can expect from this betting site and what the sportsbook can offer you.

By the end of this review, you will have a firm grasp of many different aspects of the sportsbook, including sports you can bet on, the interface as a whole, deposit and withdrawal options, as well as the bonuses and promotions that BWIN offers to attract business to their site.

Buckle up as we tour through the BWIN sportsbook and identify what this site can do for you!

The Sportsbook

If variety is what you crave in a sportsbook, BWIN could very well be for you.

As mentioned, there are 37 different sections on the left-hand side of the sportsbook home page where you can venture and perhaps place a bet or two.

We really like the idea of identifying the top leagues in the world right away right under the “sports betting” tab at the top left-hand corner of the sportsbook home page. If you are simply looking to bet on the NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL, this is a key area where you don’t have to look any further to get going on your “Big Four” North American sports betting.

The “Favorites” area is also an efficient way of placing your bets at BWIN. For example, if you are only looking to bet on MMA, all you have to do is visit the MMA tab and click on the star to the left of the MMA section, and now MMA will be under your favorites tab, so you’ll know exactly where to go and click within a split second of reaching the sportsbook. Remember, time is sometimes of the essence when it comes to placing bets, so looking for ways to place your bets efficiently is a very prudent move, and one that BWIN can assist in doing for you.

In general, there is plenty this sportsbook can offer you. Time-effective sports betting is a big one given their top left-hand section of the sportsbook homepage. Variety is another one, as this site claims to have 90 different sports worldwide that are ready for your betting needs.

On the other hand, there isn’t anything about this sportsbook that particularly wows us well beyond expectations, and we tend to put a lot of weight into the interface of a sportsbook. The interface is certainly less than ideal, which gives BWIN a downgrade when looking at the overall grade of the site.

Sports You Can Bet On

BWIN claims to have 90 different sports that you can bet on from around the globe. Compared to industry standards, this number is quite high and gives users more than they could ask for in terms of betting opportunities.

In terms of the tabs inside the sportsbook, there are 37 different choices you can make in this area.

Of course, the main sports are here.

  • American football (NFL, College, CFL)
  • Baseball (MLB, tournaments)
  • Basketball (NBA, college, Euro leagues, Olympics, tournaments)
  • Soccer (just about every league in the world)
  • Hockey (NHL, European leagues, Olympics, tournaments

The next tier of categories is rather wide-ranging as well, including MMA, boxing, golf, and formula one racing.

Additionally, BWIN offers a wide variety of sports that might be more popular in some areas of the world but not others. These types of sports include curling, cricket, athletics, badminton, rugby, snooker, pool, water polo, darts, alpine skiing, and ski jumping.

Lastly, there are some options that aren’t so athletically-inclined. These types of sports include chess, politics, and entertainment.

At the end of the day, if you are looking for any sports to bet on in the world, there’s an almost positive chance that BWIN is able to offer you an opportunity to place your wager.

User Interface

In a general sense, we’re not overly impressed with the interface when it comes to BWIN sportsbook.

That’s not to say it’s terrible, but we found the main interface of the sportsbook messy when compared to the other sportsbooks we have seen.

The left-hand side of the interface where all the various sports are listed is done in a clean aspect, and as mentioned, the sections that identify the main sports and favorites is a handy aspect of the interface.

After that, the majority of the sportsbook home interface is messy in our opinion. While there is live betting and upcoming games/matches on the home interface of the sportsbook, there isn’t a readily available futures section, either, which is something that we have seen in other sportsbooks.

There aren’t a whole lot of graphics to speak of, either. While not of utter importance, graphics can add to the overall look of the sportsbook and site itself, although the lack of graphics shouldn’t skew your view of what the sportsbook can offer.

The Casino

We’re quite impressed with the overall setup and interface when it comes to the casino section of BWIN.

Like a casino section should entail, BWIN’s casino area is both wide-ranging and aesthetically pleasing. In other words, there is plenty of options for casino games, while the graphics on this particular page are certainly up to par and more.

There is an online casino portion, a live casino portion, as well as a jackpot slots portion of BWIN’s casino section.

All three areas of the casino section cater to both low- and high-volume bettors, so therefore, it certainly does not discriminate between the bankrolls of its users.

Deposit Methods

One thing that we really like about BWIN is the huge variety of depositing options available. In fact, this betting site offers more deposit options than the vast majority of betting sites that are out there.

Since there are so many options, we aren’t going to go into detail. However, it should be noted that there aren’t fees charged for a lot of these options. The processing times do vary, though, so it’s prudent to take a look at your top options and simply discover the information within.

To view all of the deposit options at BWIN, simply to go the “Help” link at the very top left-hand corner of the site’s homepage. From there, click on “bonuses,” and then a dropdown will appear, and you will simply click on “Payment Methods.” The large list of payment options will then appear.

The payment options for BWIN are as follows:

  • Abaqoos
  • Apple Pay
  • Boleto
  • Astropay
  • ecoPayz
  • GoPlay
  • Bank Wire Transfer
  • Diners Club Card
  • Electronic Transfer
  • EntroPay
  • EPS
  • Fast Bank Transfer
  • Giropay by Skrill
  • iDEAL
  • iDebit
  • INSTADEBIT
  • Instant Banking
  • Maestro
  • Mastercard
  • Mister Cash
  • Moneta
  • Neteller
  • PayBox
  • PayPal
  • Paysafecard
  • Przelewy24
  • QIWI Wallet
  • Skrill
  • Skrill 1-Tap
  • SOFORT Banking
  • Ticket Premium
  • Trustly
  • Visa
  • WebMoney

Yes, that’s a large list. Of course, it consists of a couple of largely popular methods with Mastercard and Visa, but there’s also a variety of e-wallets, bank transfer, and instant banking options.

What we also like here is the readily available information on all of these deposit methods that you can retrieve by simply clicking on the option after following the instructions mentioned above.

It’s nice to have a wide variety of ways of depositing, all with their own pros and cons, and BWIN is an elite company when it comes to this area.

Withdrawal Methods

The first thing you need to know when it comes to withdrawing funds from your BWIN user account is the fact that BWIN does not charge fees on withdrawals.

Another thing that you need to know is that in most cases, you need to withdraw your funds using the same method that you successfully deposited through. For instance, if you deposited using an e-wallet such as PayPal or Skrill, you will be required to withdraw to the same PayPal or Skrill account in order to receive your funds.

Therefore, many of the very same options are available for withdrawing as for depositing. Keep in mind that the wait times vary from method to method, although you will find this out when you deposit through your selected method.

Bonuses and Promotions

Bonuses and promotions vary quite widely from sportsbook to sportsbook, and they can make a big difference when determining which sportsbook you give your business to.

Some first-time deposit bonuses are more attractive than others, and some sites provide sports-specific bonuses, usually with the most common ones revolving around NFL-related bonuses.

Unfortunately, the bonuses at BWIN are not advertised as vividly on the site as we have seen with many other bonuses from other sportsbooks. A great deal of sportsbooks offer bonuses as the first thing you see on the homepage in order to attract business, but some searching is required to find out what types of bonuses are offered here.

Let’s go ahead and identify the promotions and bonuses that the BWIN sportsbook offers.

Direct Bonus (No-Deposit Bonus)

A direct bonus is a bonus that is added to your account without requiring a deposit. Still, there are wagering requirements that come along with the bonus, and this bonus cannot simply be withdrawn once received.

There are two ways to receive a direct bonus at BWIN.

When you log into your account, a pop-up will appear that asks you to claim your bonus. Once claimed, the bonus will appear in the “My Current Bonuses” section.

The other way this bonus may be received is directly into your “My Current Bonuses” section if the pop-up does not appear.

Deposit Bonus (Bonus on Your Next Deposit)

This bonus is very similar to the first-deposit bonuses at other sportsbooks. A pop-up will appear offering you a percentage of your deposit as a bonus, up to a certain dollar (or Euro) amount.

In order to claim this bonus, you simply click on the “claim bonus now!” tab on the pop-up and make your deposit. For instance, if you deposit 80 Euros, and the bonus is a 50% bonus, your bonus would be 50% of 80 Euros, or 40 Euros. The maximum amount for this bonus is 100 Euros, and therefore, this bonus can be maxed out if you deposit 200 Euros.

Promotion #1 – Cash Out

BWIN’s “cash out” promotion allows you to cash your bet out before or even during an event. There is a certain cash-out value that takes the original stake into consideration as well as the current state of the bet in question.

Cash-out is not available for all types of bets and can only be used when a green “cash out” logo is placed next to your wager. This can give you some control over your bets. Although it is not always available, it could be utilized as a risk-reduction tool in some instances and a hedge play in others.

Promotion #2 – Protektor (Multi-Bet)

Protektor is an insurance option on multi-bets, or parlays.

This is how you use the Protektor promotions:

  • Log in, place your bets, and select which ones you wish to use the Protektor on.
  • Next, as soon as you make two or more picks as a multi-bet (parlay), the multi-bet option and Protektor will appear in the bet slip.
  • At this point, choose how many picks you wish to insure, and the Protektor will inform you how much it costs to insure these picks.
  • Lastly, place the bet, and as long as you have insured as many picks (or more) as have failed, you will get your stake and your Protektor premiums back.

This is a nice little feature that can come in handy at times, to be sure.

Customer Service

We are big fans of the customer service provided at BWIN.

As mentioned earlier, there is a “help” and “contact” link at the very top left-hand corner of the site that’s very easily visible on all pages. In our opinion, this is evidence that BWIN is committed to providing top-notch customer service to its account holders.

Second, the help section is quite large and very helpful. Every subject that you may require help with is going to be in that help tab, and if that fails, you can always move one link to the right and contact BWIN.

In the contact section, there are some more FAQs that could possibly help, while there is an email contact form available as well. You are also able to upload documents along with your inquiry to help BWIN’s customer service agents better serve you. The email contact form is pretty standard procedure. However, the upload center is a little above and beyond.

A contact phone number and physical address are also provided at the bottom of the contact page, which is standard procedure as well.

Additionally, there is a Twitter icon in the “social media” area of the sportsbook homepage under all of the sports that are available for wagering. Social media is a nice addition to the customer service.

Lastly, live chat is available. However, you must be a member to get into this area, as it is not available in the contact section otherwise.

The Bwin website is provided and operated by a company called ElectraWorks Limited who have all the correct licenses to operate in the UK market and abroad.

Bwin are also members of the European Sports Security Association, which aims to offer customers a fair sports betting product by preventing insider bets and betting fraud.

Player complaints are a serious issue for Bwin and the web is littered with them. They focus on:

  • Slow paying players
  • Closing accounts after just a couple of winning bets
  • Predatory wagering requirements
  • Shocking customer service
  • Closing accounts without justification

Not a good look for the company…

Ownership:

  • Bwin, which was known as betandwin until 2006, was first founded back in 1997.
  • The company held an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Austrian Stock Exchange in the year 2000.
  • In 2011, Bwin merged with British company PartyGaming to become at the time the largest publicly traded online gaming firm in the world.
  • Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment PLC, as the company was then called, was acquired by GVC Holdings PLC in 2016.

Given were talking about a publicly traded company it’s surprising that have such a bad reputation among punters – surprising but oh so very true.

They have also stiffed marketing partners in the past, with predatory terms and conditions, which is another major concern.

What sports are offered?

8|10

  • Around 35 different sports
  • Virtual betting
  • Live streaming
  • Specials & politics

This part of our review really shows why it’s such a shame Bwin have a bad repuation… the amount of markets they offer, the depth of those markets and features available (live streaming ect.) are all really impressive.

Let’s look at the range of events and markets which Bwin price up. Those markets cover the following wide range of different sports:

  • Alpine Skiing
  • American Football
  • Athletics
  • Aussie Rules
  • Badminton
  • Bandy
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Biathlon
  • Boxing
  • Chess
  • Combat Sports
  • Cricket
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Curling
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Floorball
  • Football
  • Formula One
  • Golf
  • Handball
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Motorbikes
  • Pool
  • Rally
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Ski Jumping
  • Snooker
  • Tennis
  • Trotting
  • Volleyball
  • Water Polo

It’s fairly clear to see, therefore, that Bwin cover a peerless range of different sports. All of the major options that you would expect to be covered are accounted for, along with obscure, lower profile sports which you would struggle to find odds for elsewhere.

They do not at present, however, price up E-sports events whereas many other bookmakers have moved into that area.

They’ve also got an extensive in-play betting section and the layout of the site is intuitive making it easy to use for even the newest sports bettors.

Their reputation is just so poor, unfortunately, you probably shouldn’t be betting with them.

In-Play Betting

Live stats, scores & streams

Is live betting offered?

8|10

  • Dedicated live betting area
  • Attractive & handy in-play interface
  • Live streaming
  • Stats, graphics & scores

Live betting is well catered for by Bwin, with a clear and obvious link on their homepage to a dedicated live betting area.

In this section you’ll see all of the events currently in-play listed and arranged by sport. Major sports like football and tennis are well accounted for, but smaller ones such as badminton also see events regularly taken in-play.

It is football matches which boasts by far the most in-play markets through Bwin but higher profile events from other sports can still feature 20 or more different betting options.

Bwin in-play interfaces always feature a live scoreboard at the top, which generally also features simple, live text commentary.

To the right of the scoreboard, you will also find a ‘Media’ area of the interface. When available, it is here that you can find either a live animation giving updates from the event or a live stream of the event.

Again it’s really FRUSTRATING that Bwin have such a shocker of a reputation as their in-play service compares well vs others – there are better though… see these in-play bookmakers ratings.

Q: Is Bwin safe and legal?

For sure it is safe to place your bets with Bwin. Apart from the licenses they hold in some of the most strict authorities globally, Bwin is listed on the London Stock Exchange. Moreover, the Austrian bookmaker is certified from eCOGRA & iTechLabs and member of IBIA & ESSA.

Q: Who owns Bwin?

Bwin’s ownership has changed from time to time, but nowadays the popular sportsbook is run and operated from GVC Holdings and its subsidiary Electraworks Limited.

Q: Ηow to verify my account?

In order to proceed with Bwin’s age verification, you will have to provide the betting company with your ID, your passport or your driving license.

Q: Is it possible to delete my Bwin account?

There are two different ways to close your account with Bwin. The first way is to contact Bwin’s customer support and request your account closure. You can also exclude yourself from betting for a specific period of time. When the self-exclusion applies, you don’t have access to your account, until that period of time is over.

Q: How to cancel a bet?‌

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel a placed bet, so you will have to be careful before you click on the confirm button for your wager. In case you have changed your mind though, you can always use the cashout service. In addition, if you have created an accumulator bet and you have wrongly chosen a specific match, you can replace it with another one, or even remove it.

Q: Is Cash out available on Bwin?

Of course you can cash out your bets and in fact not only the classic cash out is available, but partial and automatic as well. The first feature will give you the opportunity to cash out a part of your winnings. The second one gives you the chance to cash out your bet automatically, when the winnings will reach the specific amount you have set as a target in order to be satisfied.

Q: What are Bwin’s withdrawal times?

That depends on the payment system you have chosen to go on with your withdrawal. A payout on the most popular e-wallets, like Skrill, Neteller and Paypal should take up to 3 working days, while the credit/debit card payment will be completed within 5 working days. As for the bank transfers, those will take a little bit longer, up to 5 working days.

Q: What are the maximum winnings?

There are specific limits daily and weekly. A player can win up to €10.000 per day and bet or the equivalent amount in any other currency. That limit rises up to €250.000 per week, or the equivalent amount in any other currency.

No introduction is needed for Bwin. They were the first betting giants, being founded in 1999 when they came to the spotlight as Bet And Win. Since 2016, they have been under new ownership - GVC Holdings - and have a clear white market strategy, acquiring domestic licenses in New Jersey, Sweden, Italy, Greece, France, and Spain. Bwin is regarded as a top-class bookmaker, but there are some massive pros and cons. The website is a little bit outdated, and the odds should be higher, especially at the top leagues. The absence of Asian bets and the slow withdrawal times are also a great minus. The same applies to the fast limitation on winning accounts, no matter if we are talking about a sharp or a recreational player. On the other hand, the live betting section comes with so many extra features, like Multiview and live streaming. The range of extra bets, both at the pre-match and live betting, sports and payment methods is huge and the mobile apps magnificent. No matter the disadvantages, Bwin will always be a safe place and a classic destination for the bettors.

Bwin has been a real up and comer of the sports betting world over the last 15 or so years. It has constantly improved its offering and the result is one of the most impressive and balanced sportsbooks around. When you bet at bwin you’ll find loads of sport markets, tons of different bet types that are matched with competitive odds and loads of extras such as live streaming and cash out. The sign up bonus is not to be sniffed at too. New customers at the site can get their hands on a money back £10 free bet that will cover you if your first qualifying bet loses!

How to Get the bwin Bonus

With such a well rounded platform, the bwin promotions range is fairly small. But the bwin sign up bonus is anything but. Claiming the free bet is also nice and simple. There’s no bwin bonus code required and it’s really just a case of signing up an account and making a first qualifying bet. Follow the steps below to see how it’s done in practice.

You Can Easily Claim Your £10 Free Bet by Following These Simple Steps:

Register an account at the betting site

Deposit between at least £10 in your online account

Make a qualifying bet to be covered for £10

The offer comes in the form of a risk free bet for your first bet at bwin. If your first bet of minimum odds 2.0 (1/1) loses, the bookmaker will refund you with a free bet of £10 value to play on any sports market!

This is by far the best bwin bonus and there’s only really a limited list of bwin promotions to compliment the sign up offer. The best of the small bunch is the protektor offer, which allows punters to insure against losing selections on multiple bets. If the insured selections fail then you’ll get your stake and the protektor costs back. There’s really 3 outcomes when using the offer, which we’ve handily summarised below.

  • The multiple bet wins. In this case you’ll receive the winnings, but not the cost of using protektor
  • The multiple bet loses but sufficiently insured through protektor. In this case, you’ll receive the stake and the costs of protektor back.
  • The multiple bet loses and is not sufficiently insured through protektor. In this case you would receive neither your stake nor the protektor costs back.

Live Betting at bwin and Other Features

While the bwin promotions list is fairly compact, there are a number of other features that make it one of the best. Cash out is a fairly new feature for the betting site, so they’ve made no mistake with it, providing one of the most flawless cash out functions around. There’s also live alerts for mobile app users as well as full screen live streams when using the app. Users of the bwin app are certainly taken care of.

The more standard sportsbook features are executed flawlessly. There are endless betting opportunities thanks to a huge range of sports and a rich and varied supply of bwin betting markets. Live betting and streaming is a great experience here. There are around 2,000 events every month that are available to be viewed live on your desktop or through the bwin mobile sportsbook app. The viewing requirements are also generous, with a funded account or a recent bet being made the only requirements for live-streaming any event. In-play betting works seamlessly and there are a great number of both traditional in-play bets and less common, quick fire bet types.

One great part of the bwin service is their weekly prediction service with great cash prizes for anyone who can guess the exact time a goal will be scored in a match. It is through unique offers like this that bwin really show that they are ahead of the pack.

The mobile app is a great strength of the bookie. It is available for download for both Android and iOS devices and has almost all of the features of the online version. The aforementioned full screen live streams on the app are a great feature that other operators fail to replicate, so the bwin app comes especially recommended to those who want to view events while betting on their mobile.

Not content with offering its customers the usual services of an online sportsbook, bwin goes the extra mile, with features such as news and live updates. The news section looks and feels like a blog, so is easy to read and on the eyes, while also containing up to date sporting information and tips for winning bets. Few online betting sites offer a news service as good as the one at bwin and this is just one of many features that helps the bookmaker retain loyal customers.

How Can I Deposit at bwin?

Depositing at bwin is almost always super fast as most deposit methods are supported by instant processing. The slowest methods are obviously bank transfers, but these should be cleared within a week at the latest. The minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts are fairly low, which makes the sight extremely friendly to new customers.

While the maximum deposit amounts set below are accurate, these can be different for specific accounts. This is due to the fact that limits can be placed on the account by users. This will also affect the maximum single bet amount that can be made. If you try to place a bet that is too high for your account limits, you’ll receive a message when placing the bet that the limits have been exceeded and that you must reduce the stake to place the bet. Check out the table below to see all the important details on how to deposit and withdraw at bwin.

How Is the bwin Customer Service?

The help section at a bookmaker is designed to answer any question you may have, so you don’t need to contact a customer service operator. In reality though, we all know this is not really the case. But the FAQ and help section from bwin does make a pretty good go at it. The FAQ is split into numerous different sections and then further by sports, poker, games and casino. This is a logical approach that makes searching for an answer to a query much easier. These sections are also then divided into further individual questions when selected, meaning that most areas are addressed.

However, it’s inevitable that at some stage you’ll need to speak to a customer service agent. Thankfully, the customer service at bwin is pretty comprehensive, with live chat, message and phone contact methods available to be utilised. Only live chat is available round the clock however. bwin live chat is a great tool and one that most players will use most frequently. It’s such a great function as it allows a user to get an instant answer to a question through talking live with a customer service agent.

For those that don’t fancy using live chat, you can take advantage of the email or phone contact methods. Bwin don’t like to give the email address out, but you can head to the website and use the contact form to type in your message. Enter your email address and you’ll receive a reply to your email. Alternatively there is the option to call using a phone. The good thing about this method is that there are two separate methods for the different functions of the sportsbook. So there is a dedicated number for sportsbook queries, which means you should speak to someone who is trained to help you, meaing you’ll get a sufficient answer fast. All in all, our tests always found the service given to be helpful and friendly, so bwin is a real winner in the customer service area.

A History of the Company

Bwin is an Austrian online betting company and is owned by GVC Holdings plc. It was previously owned by the bwin Interactive Entertainment AG group who operated its companies out of headquarters in Vienna, Stockholm and Gibraltar. That company was formed by a merger with PartyGaming in March 2011 and was formerly betandwin. In February 2016 the company was purchased by GVC Holdings plc.

The sports betting side of the business was the first aspect and has been very successful. This was followed by forays into online gaming and casinos platforms, then soft games and finally multi player poker in 2004. The bwin brand was first launched in August 2006 as it was seen to better encompass the range of features that were now available, such as sports betting, poker, soft games and casino games.

GVC Holdings plc continues to run the bwin brand and sports betting continues to be the focus of bwin and is its most popular feature. Bwin has certainly done its fair share outside of its own responsibilities too. It is a founding member of the European Sports and Security Association (ESSA) which helps to fight against manipulation and fraud in sports and betting. In the past, bwin has had major sponsorship deals with Real Madrid as the shirt sponsor and also betting partnerships with big clubs, such as Bayern Munich. Currently it sponsors the Portuguese first league. The company is run out of Gibraltar and now has over 1500 employees.

A Top Rated Betting Site

While it’s not one of the old school traditional bookmakers, bwin has now been around for a while, so it should be judged as a bookmaker that has had enough time to develop its product to a good standard. As an online betting site, we can also expect that it is strong in the areas online sports betting excels in, such as live and in-play betting. Fortunately, this is definitely the case.

The betting site launched its live betting product fairly early and followed it up with live streaming in 2007. Consequently, in-play betting at bwin is a joyous experience that is smooth and straight forward, with lots of interesting bet types to add to the excitement. The range of markets is another strength; there’s around 35 sports available to be bet on, so you’re sure to find whatever you’re looking for.

In regards to the bwin bonuses, we are a little let down by the fact that there’s never really a range of promotions available. If a wide range of promotions is what you’re after, then I’d suggest to check out the promotions at Betway. The fact that the protektor offer runs constantly makes up for this somewhat. Protektor is a great function that is super original, meaning if you’re a fan of accumulators and would like insurance when betting, bwin is definitely the place to go. The bwin sign bonus also makes things a little more attractive. New customers can enjoy a risk free first bet up to £10, covering you for a slightly more ambitious punt than usual with the insurance of a £10 free bet refund should your bet not materialise. The terms of the bwin bonus are very favourable however, which in our opinion, ranks it highly when compared to other deposit bonuses.

Bwin (‘bet and win’) began life in 1999 as Simon Bold. The name changed when it was taken over in 2001. The company is registered in Gibraltar, operates under a UK Gambling Commission licence and is a public corporation, listed on the London stock exchange. Bwin one of the most well-known sports betting brands out there, especially in football, plus the Bwin bonus is well known as being a great deal.

bwin has a long history of sponsoring many sports teams. Since 2005, it’s been the sponsor of the Portuguese first football league. The bookie has a history of sponsoring many of Europe’s most storied football clubs: Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan. Other sports bwin has sponsored include motorcycle racing (MotoGP) and basketball, including FIBA (International Basketball Federation). Since 2013, bwin has been Real Madrid’s Official Online Gaming and Betting Partner and has been a main sponsor of the club since 2007.

The result of the OpenOdds bwin review

There are a lot of things working in bwin’s favour which we cover in our bwin review. One of them is its brand equity, something that is vital for punters when choosing a bookmaker to add to their portfolio. They also have partnerships with some of the biggest sport clubs around, particularly in football and basketball. The number of sports bwin have is mind-boggling, with many bets available to you at a time. They also have one of the most extensive live-betting subsections of the sportsbook and a decent Bwin bonus too.

You can personalise the website, to get to your favourite markets easily, however, their prices are average and the customer service is not 24/7. Given all of this, we are giving a bwin rating 86 out of 100.

Erfahrungen mit bwin: The strongest of Austria's sportsbooks

Detailed bwin sportsbook review: the OpenOdds rating for this operator

Every review on OpenOdds contains a comprehensive analysis in 10 key categories for you to truly get a full 360-degree bwin review of all of the bookmakers. Here’s the list of the ten categories that we’ll look into in this part of the bwin review:

01.Bonuses:A fantastic welcome offer and plenty of other promotions on the sportsbook.

Bwin's Bonus Program8/10 Punkte

  • Back-up bet up to £50
  • Free bet dependent on first bet wagered
  • Plenty of other promotions also available
  • Perfect for football punters
  • Won’t be disappointed with the offers

The bwin bonus is a great one: a back-up bet of up to £50. It’s perfect for those who are looking to for a sports betting bonus. Once you sign up and place your first wager, if you lose, the free bet you’ll get in your account depends on how much your first bet is worth. Besides that, there are lots of other sports promotions available once you go use your initial welcome bonus. They include the Saturday Goal Bonanza that’s good for £20 of bets on the pre-match Halftime/Fulltime market, the Bound to Score money back (if a player scores against his former club), and a £5 money back on Formula 1 if your driver happens to retire. This is definitely surprising because many of the most storied and popular bookmakers tend to not have as many generous offers available to their users. You won’t be disappointed with the bonuses that are offered.

02.Customer services:Not 24/7 but there’s plenty of available information.

Bwin's Customer Services8/10 Punkte

  • No live chat feature on homepage
  • Very detailed help section
  • Live chat, e-mail and telephone support
  • Lines open from 10:00 to 22:00

It’s surprising that bwin lacks a live chat feature clearly highlighted on the homepage, but it tries to make up for it with its very detailed help section. When you go to the contact tab, you’ll find the live chat help feature. It would be better if it were available to you right from the home page to improve its already very user-friendly online betting page. The phone lines are available 7 days a week from 10:00-22:00 with one number reserved from sportsbook, casino games, and games, and another exclusively for queries related to poker. There’s also an email box that you can use to write any other queries directly to the support staff in Gibraltar in case the FAQs don’t answer your doubts and it is after hours. Rest assured that there are plenty of ways to get the help you need.

03.Sports covered: Outperforms in breadth and number of bets.

Bwin's Sports Coverage8/10 Punkte

  • Insane amount of sport on offer
  • Over 90 to choose from
  • Traditional options covered
  • Plenty of niche sporting options available too
  • Something for everyone at Bwin

The number of sports this bookie offers is mind-boggling, surpassing the variety offered on many other sites. There are more than 90 sports for you to choose from, from football and tennis to water polo, rowing, swimming and yachting. While not all of the sports are available all of the time, the number of events you can bet on is in the thousands. There are always at least 30,000 daily betting options at your disposal. This means you’ll have plenty of choices at any time of the day and during the week for you to properly play your lines within any part of the sportsbook, whether in major or niche sports.

04.Payment methods:Tonnes of ways for you to deposit and withdraw<

Bwin's Payment Methods9/10 Punkte

  • Plentiful payment methods available
  • Numerous e-wallets supported
  • Traditional card payments also covered
  • Bank transfers are also accepted

The available payment methods options are plentiful: they include e-wallets, credit and debit cards, and bank transfers. The methods available include Abaqoos, Diners Club, EntroPay, eps, giropay, iDeal, INSTADEBIT, Maestro, MasterCard, Mister Cash, Moneta, NETELLER, paybox, PayPal, paysafecard, PromoCode, Przelewy24, QIWI Wallet, Skrill, Skrill 1-Tap, SOFORT Banking, Ticket Premium, Visa, and WebMoney. The deposit limits depend on the payment method, and the withdrawal methods also depend on the way you choose to pay.

05.Security:Is bwin safe?

How safe is Bwin?9/10 Punkte

  • One of the most sophisticated security systems on the market
  • Constant review of security protocols
  • 5 level, including SSL encryption and multiple firewalls
  • No need to ever worry with Bwin

Is bwin safe? Bwin has one of the most sophisticated security systems in the industry. Not to mention, bwin reviews security protocol on a regular basis to guarantee user safety. The security system has five levels, which include a 128-bit SSL encryption from Tech Labs and multiple firewalls. In addition, Bwin collaborated with the European Gaming & Betting Association to create the European Sports Security Association, which aims to prevent insider bets and betting fraud, thereby offering a fair sports betting process. ESSA possesses large-scale databases that help the ESSA recognise instances of potential sports event manipulation, and when manipulation is detected, they pass on the information to the pertinent authorities. You’re also required to provide your address and date of birth to ensure that only those over 18 can sign up on bwin.

06.Betting odds:Great for football but everything else is average.s<

How good are Bwin's odds?9/10 Punkte

  • Fairly average odds on offer
  • Early odds are very high
  • For football, some of the best odds available
  • Plenty of benefits available

Bwin’s odds are fairly average compared to the best online bookmakers that also happen to be based in Gibraltar. One of their distinctive operating features is that early odds are very high and they continue to lower as it gets closer to game time. You’re able to place bets very far in advance, such as up to three months ahead of the golf majors. However, for football bettors, they have some of the best odds options out there, which makes sense given football’s big emphasis in the sportsbook and on the promotions page. Even if the prices are fairly average, there are a lot of other benefits that balance that out (considering that its profit margins are higher than many of its big-name competitors).

07.User-friendliness:Easy with everything you need.

How easy is Bwin to use?9/10 Punkte

  • Website is seamless and easy to use
  • Strong graphics and all you need at your fingertips
  • Modern and very easy to follow
  • App available for iOS and Android

The website is incredibly easy to use, with very strong graphics and all of the options you need right at your fingertips. It’s modern and very easy to follow, whether you’re a casual or recreational punter or even a top expert. The one problem with the site is that if your system doesn’t happen to support their insanely high-quality graphics, it may take you longer to get everything to load. The website is also web-adaptable for your use on those devices. However, if you’d rather download a native app on iOS or Droid, there’s a bwin app for you. There’s even a separate sports app too with live streaming fully available and live alerts that you can set up based on your preferences. You’ll always be in the know, even if you’re on your mobile instead of your computer!

08.In-play product:Good but narrowly focused

Bwin's Live Betting Service8/10 Punkte

  • Great platform for in-game bets
  • Odds numbers constantly changin
  • Dozens of live matches on display
  • Live streaming available

Bwin’s live betting options are one of its biggest attractions for punters. It’s what also helps it compensate for its average prices in the sportsbook. The European football options are the main attraction, with the numbers changing as frequently as stock prices on the world’s most reputable exchanges. There are dozens of live matches available at any time of the day. This is how they invest in retaining customers, and for live betting aficionados, we recommend you play on bwin!

09.Other products:A £10 welcome bonus for all in the casino and BetUp

What else does Bwin have to offer?9/10 Punkte

  • E-sports coverage available
  • Casino available to customers
  • Plenty of table games
  • Numerous promotions on all of the above

The other gaming options that bwin have available are e-sports betting, casino (regular and live), casino games, and poker. There are a number of casino and poker promotions available for you to give the other bwin products a try. You’re able to access them on the web, the mobile version, or the app.

10.Bet limits: Plenty of tools

Bwin's Betting Limits9/10 Punkte

  • Hard at work to avoid addiciton
  • Self help toolkit available
  • Place your own limits if need be
  • Ability to self-exclude as well

Bwin is hard at work in improving ways to prevent gambling addiction. With this in mind, it’s cooperating on a joint research project with Harvard Medical School and the Cambridge Health Alliance. Using empirical studies, Bwin wants to develop a suite of products to help users not fall into the trap of gambling addiction. As the project continues, bwin’s parent company keeps adding new features based on those findings. Bwin has a self-help toolkit at your disposal to give you a diagnostic of your behaviour and figure out what needs to be done to keep everything in check. You’re able to place deposit limits on daily, weekly, or monthly intervals. Limit increases require 24-hour approval while all limit decreases are implemented immediately. As for self-exclusion, you’re able to have time-outs of 1 week, 1 day, 1 month, or any time interval of up to 6 weeks. If you find yourself in need of an indefinite self-exclusion period, bwin can facilitate it until the punter decides to eliminate it. However, this indefinite self-exclusion has to be active for at least 6 months.

Our Verdict of bwin:Good betting option

If you fancy European football and lots of live betting options, then bwin has to be in your betting strategy of having multiple bookmakers to best diversify your options. With an array of payment methods available for bwin Deposit & Withdrawals, you have another worthy addition to your sports betting portfolio. Of course, if you’re a Real Madrid fan your decision is pretty clear. We were impressed by the variety of sports and live betting options available throughout bwin. While the odds and the prices could be improved, the additional benefits we’ve found give you enough positive points to compensate for any of the caveats we found on the site. So  sign up to bwin, get the bwin bonus, and have a ball on one of the industry’s most reputable sites and sportsbooks! Go to bwin and open your account

Player Issues

Although bwin Casino is a big player in the online gambling market, players still take issue with predatory terms and conditions on bonuses and unresponsive customer support. Because of this we urge players to use caution should they decide to play at bwin.

Our First Impression of Bwin

When we first arrived at Bwin’s site we noticed how different it was to other bookmakers. While most bookies immediately add their popular betting markets to the homepage, Bwin focused on images of their website features. One image promoted the upcoming World Cup betting. Another featured the live bet cash out. The third image was a live feed of a current football game.

Links were still prominent in the header, though, with Bwin sports, live betting, virtuals, casino, live casino, jackpots and poker all having their own space. Promotions are found in one of numerous links at the bottom of the homepage, or via the betting market subheadings. We clicked sports, and from here we could visit sports Bwin promotions. Many of these were football related and promoted by none other than Hand of God himself, Diego Maradona.

Navigating the Website For Our Bwin Review

During our Bwin sportsbook review, we wanted to know just how easy it was to navigate the website. Thankfully, the site was really easy to use with each type of bet available from the homepage. You can also register from the homepage using the black ‘Register Now’ button, which is what we got started with. After registering, we found the promotions page. There were a few promotions available, although we were disappointed to find some were not UK based. Upon finding a suitable bonus we made our first deposit, again, all from the homepage. Is Bwin reliable? Based on our first impression, we’d have to say a resounding yes.

All About Registration

Registering on the bookies’ site took moments. It was a simple three-step process that saw us add our personal details, create a username and password and then add our card details to get started with betting. We were betting in no time, so our Bwin ratings reflect the great service we received.

Bwin’s Virtual Sports Offer

When it comes to welcome offers, the one listed on the Bwin website is unavailable to people from the UK, so we’ve found the next biggest deal offered on the Bwin’s website, the Virtual Sports bonus. The Virtual Sports bonus gives players 10% back of their net losses on Virtual Sport every week, capped at £20.00. The bonus is calculated on net losses between Wednesday and Sunday on a weekly basis. The bonus amount is returned to you on Monday and must be spent by Tuesday at 23:59.

This is a simple bonus, which encourages players to wager on a betting market that maybe they would usually overlook. As such, the deal scored well in the Bwin ratings.

The Bwin Bonus in More Detail

There are seven sports to choose from in Virtual Sport betting and each and every one of these is available for the bookmaker bonus. Virtual football, virtual tennis, horses, greyhounds, trotting and velodrome bets are all available. All you have to do is place wagers on any of these betting markets and for every loss, 10% of it will be returned to you. There are no tricks, the deal is legitimate and we’d like to call Bwin trustworthy. There’s also no wagering requirement on these qualifying markets, making the bonus an easy deal to understand.

Once the qualifying period of Wednesday to Sunday is completed, the total losses of your wagers will be calculated. You will receive 10% of this figure, up to a maximum of £20. Bets placed using a Bwin FreeBet token will not be added to the figure. Bets that are cashed out early will not count, nor will cancelled bets. What WILL count though, is bets from the web, mobile and tablet.

Once an extra bet is awarded to you, you’ll have between Monday and Tuesday evening to use the bet before it expires. The bonus offer then repeats for another week with the same terms and conditions.

Odds That Rival Most Bookmakers

The odds at Bwin may not set the world alight, but that’s true of every bookmaker at the moment. Odds are very tightly bound to a bookmakers’ profit and the likelihood that a bet will fail or succeed. This means there is very little room to move when it comes to changing the betting odds.

One way that bookmakers try to amend their odds to make them look more competitive is through odds boosts on certain markets. This is what Bwin does with their accumulators. Bwin offer what they call enhanced accas, which is where certain bets are put together in a ready-made accumulator bet for you. These accumulators have had their odds boosted so they offer better value for money than they would separately.

It’s common to find the odds accumulators on football events as they’re easily linked together. Other selections include tennis or rugby bets that have been combined to create exciting odds deals.

Bwin Casino Review Time

As well as the great sporting content on Bwin’s website, you can also wager on their generous casino, which has a huge selection of slot, table, poker and live casino games. One of the most famous of the slot games on offer is Starburst, which is created by industry giant NetEnt. This space themed game is perfect for those who love a five reel slot game with lots of extra free spins and expanding wilds. Progressive slots are also popular at Bwin, with jackpots reaching the millions if you’re lucky enough to win.

As well as slot games, you will also find a great table selection. There are blackjack tournaments which cover low rollers and high roller bets. There’s also roulette, craps and poker available for those looking to experience a realistic casino situation.

Bwin Social Media

Bwin does not have a Facebook page of their own, but there are a couple of fan pages on there that discuss the brand. What Bwin do have though, is a Twitter presence which has over 66,000 followers. On Twitter, Bwin’s content is mainly promotional material which advertises their latest big bets. You’ll also find adverts for the Maradona promotions that are currently running on their website.

Unlike many bookmakers, Bwin doesn’t appear to use social media to solve and customer issues, instead referring players to their customer support team.

Overall, we feel that while Bwin’s social media is informative, it doesn’t have the same level of interaction or fun found with other bookmakers. For that reason, we’ve knocked a couple of points off the specials and social media Bwin ratings.

A Wide Range of Payment Methods Available

Possibly the most important part of our Bwin review are the payment options. These allow us to place deposits and receive withdrawals on a bookmakers’ website. It’s natural to have a preferred payment option, so if it’s not available at the bookie, it would be nice to know about it before you sign up, right?

At Bwin, you’ll be able to deposit using a wide range of payment methods. There are 35 to choose from, with players from the UK able to deposit using Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, PayPal, Neteller, Paysafecard, Instant Banking, Entropay and Trustly.

The minimum you can deposit with most of these payment methods is £10, with the exception of PaySafeCard which allows you to deposit with just £5. Using Fast Bank Transfer or Instant Banking requires a minimum deposit of £15.

Maximum deposits vary between £500 for Instant Banking, rising to a whopping £50,000 for Skrill and Skrill 1-tap. The other maximum deposit amounts are Entropay and Paysafecard with deposits of £1,000 and £2,000 for card payments and Neteller. PayPal and Trustly allow deposits of up to £10,000.

Are There Any Fees Charged?

Withdrawals are fee free from Bwin, but your payment provider may charge you for the privilege of processing your withdrawal. This is usually true of ewallets such as PayPal and Neteller, so always check with your payment provider before making any withdrawals.

Withdrawals at Bwin vary in the time it takes to process. It takes Bwin 24 hours to process a withdrawal, but after this you they aim to get your withdrawal to you within 48-72 hours. This is in line with most other bookmakers.

Good Support At Bwin

Click the ‘Contact Us’ link at the top of the homepage and you’ll be transported straight to the Bwin’s FAQ which holds the answer to most common queries such as how to create a Bwin login and which payment methods are available on the website.

If this doesn’t solve your problem, you’ve got a couple of options available to you. The first is to telephone live customer support on the number listed below. This way you can talk through your Bwin problem with someone directly.

You can also contact Bwin by filling in the ‘Contact Us’ form at the bottom of the FAQ page. All you do is add your contact details and leave a message and someone from Bwin’s customer support team will get in touch with you. The alternative, which is by far the quickest contact method is to use live chat to speak to a customer advisor.

No VIP Scheme For Bwin Players

When it comes to VIP content, what you see on the Bwin’s website is what you get. The bookmaker has no specific VIP scheme available for their players, which while disappointing, isn’t the end of the world given the number of promotions available on their website.

Players are treated as equals at Bwin, with each deal from Maradona’s Millions to their Virtual Football bonus available for all, providing it is valid in your country of origin.

UK Licensing Brings Peace of Mind

When it comes to gambling licenses, few compare to one from the UK Gambling Commission. Their stringent tests ensure that a bookmaker is reliable and trustworthy and their games are impartial, regardless of who places wagers on them. The UKGC is one of the regulators who have licensed Bwin’s owning company ElectraWorks Limited, who are also based in Gibraltar.

Because Bwin is located in Gibraltar they also hold a license from the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner and display their license numbers prominently on their website.

Furthermore, the bookmaker also goes to great lengths to ensure a players’ security when gambling on their website. Personal data is protected using SSL encryption and is stored in a secure firewalled data centre for protection. The bookmaker also states that their webpages are encrypted and the business works within ISO27001:2013 data practices.

Keeping You Safe Online

As well as protecting your personal information, Bwin also has a responsibility to protect players that are deemed vulnerable. That includes underage gamblers and players who believe they have a gambling problem.

Bwin goes to great lengths to weed out underage gambling by providing security checks when a person attempts to register on their website, and again should any payment be processed.

For those struggling with gambling, Bwin work in conjunction with GamCare to provide support to these players. They also have a checklist on their website so players can assess their own level of risk to problem gambling. Self-exclusion and betting limits can also be set on a players’ account to restrict the level of gambling or take time away from betting altogether. Self exclusion can last for up to six months to give players time to reassess their gambling.

Bwin Sports Betting

Bwin Betting Markets

When it comes to betting markets, Bwin have a wide selection which should appease most bettors. There are 35 sports in total, and these cover everything from the commonly found sports such as football, cricket and horse racing, to more obscure markets such as Alpine skiing, futsal and handball. Of the sports offered on the website, you’ll often find multiple wagers covering a host of different tournaments from over the world. Take football for example, which on Bwin is offered on 33 different regions throughout the world including Japan and Vietnam, Estonia and Belarus.

Horse racing is another international sport with Bwin listing races from the UK, Ireland and South Africa in their betting markets. Rugby union again offers international games with European, Six Nations and World Cup action all available at the click of a button.

Different Bet Types

There are lots of different bet types available to the average punter. You have single bets which are wagered on one selection and one outcome. You have accumulator bets where you pick several selections and add them to one bet. Each of these selections needs to win for the bet to pay out. You’ve even got combi-bets, which are bets made up of several smaller bets to cover all possible outcomes at a sporting event. Of these you have doubles, trebles and quads as well as bigger culminations of bets such as trixies and heinz. These often combine double, treble and quad bets in such a way that you cover most betting outcomes. In a trixie bet, for example, you wager on three horses and place four bets consisting of three double bets and a treble bet.

All these types of bets and more are available at Bwin.

It’s common to find the odds accumulators on football events as they’re easily linked together. Other selections include tennis or rugby bets that have been combined to create exciting odds deals.

Does Live Betting Live Up to Expectations?

Live betting on Bwin’s website is clear in its design with three different views available. These are overview, which as the name suggests, gives an overview of the current betting markets available. Then there’s event view, which shows individual events with a breakdown of the different bets available on the sporting event. The third view is multiview, allowing you to drag across different events into the viewing section so you can keep an eye on more than one bet at once. This nifty tool is certainly a high point of the Bwin live betting experience.

Players can also use the betting calendar to see which live betting markets are coming up in the following week – perfect if you like to plan your bets in advance.

Live Streaming At Bwin

Live streaming at Bwin allows you to experience wagering like no other. While it’s normal to find only a few betting markets have live streaming available, the selection at Bwin is rather generous. You can see which bets are streamed by looking out for the yellow television icon. If live streaming is not available, you’ll be treated to a nifty animation which follows the action. Not quite the same as watching an event live, but not terrible either.

Bwin Scored 87 Out Of 100 Points In Our Test

Betwin’s betting services and website features are great. It’s no surprise, then, that the bookmaker scored a very impressive 87 out of 100 in our review. During our review we found them to be consistently good across the board, only dropping a point here or there for minor issues. Overall, the bookmaker gave a great showing, particularly when it comes to website security and the safety of their players. This level of consistency passed over to their mobile app too, which was available to both iOS and Android players.

Bwin Strengths and Weaknesses

While it’s clear that Bwin is a great site, their lack of VIP section let them down somewhat. By including one of these, Bwin could have offered players an incentive to spend a little more. While we’re not sure that the website suffers without one, it is something that many other bookmakers offer, and may be worth consideration.

Overall, though, it was very difficult to find anything negative to say about the bookmaker. Their live betting was a particular high point for us, offering a wide range of betting markets and three different views to monitor your bets. Live streaming was available on some wagers to bring you closer to the action.

We also loved the choice of payment methods on the website. There were 35 offered in total, with a large selection of these available to UK players. With such a high overall score, It’s clear that Bwin has an awful lot to give. They’re a bookmaker we’ll be watching closely in future.

Far from small fry, Bwin is one of the biggest gaming companies in the world. Established in Austria in 1999, this newcomer to the market would eventually go on to serve more than 25 global markets and have at least 20 million registered customers under its belt. Not that numbers like this always guarantee outstanding performance, but you have to reach the conclusion with Bwin that they must be doing something right. And when you put them to the test, you’ll find out in an instant that the answer is quite a lot!

Bwin Standout Features

Perhaps the single most outstanding feature of Bwin is the sheer volume of betting markets covered. Even when taking into account the biggest brands like Bet365, Bwin really comes close in terms of variety. They also focus extremely heavily on in-play betting, making Bwin a solid choice for those who prefer live wagering.

Bwin Safety and Security

Fully licensed and regulated, account safety and data security need not be causes for concern with Bwin. They use the highest-level encryption technology to watch over transactions and protect all data with state of the art firewalls. Even among critics, account security doesn’t tend to be a point of contention.

Bwin Betting and Margins

Interestingly, the odds and margins offered by Bwin are not always the best to be found. They’re never disastrous, but they’ve earned a reputation over the years for frequently falling behind when it comes to simple value for money. That being said, they are also known for being more reliable and consistent than most, with it being somewhat rare to see Bwin suddenly or dramatically slash published odds.

Bwin Markets

As already mentioned, the range of betting markets at Bwin is nothing short of massive and really does feature something for everyone. Just some of the examples on offer: football, tennis, basketball, boxing, cycling, golf, hockey, American football, Formula 1, snooker, chess, alpine and cross country skiing, floorball, horse racing, NASCAR, rugby union, speedway, Nordic combined, baseball, cricket, handball, tennis, volleyball, motorbikes, biathlon, combat sports, darts, futsal, ski jumping, rugby union, greyhounds and many more besides. The most popular sports are listed at the top, with the rest following conveniently beneath.

Bwin Live Streaming and Live Betting

Something that Bwin scores seriously big points in is in-play betting. The company keeps no secret of the fact that most of its focus goes the way of live betting – something that becomes apparent in an instant. The console itself is great, but it’s just how many live betting opportunities there are and the amount of real-time data provided that give Bwin the edge. What’s more, they also offer live streaming of many of the events featured, immediately giving Bwin a serious edge over some in this department.

Payments and Placing Bets

Another plus point for Bwin customers is the way in which a number of global currencies are accepted, including EUR, NOK, CHF, HUF, EEK, HRK, PLN, LTL, GBP, SEK, USD, LVL and RUB. It’s a shame that PayPal isn’t currently on the list of accepted payment types, but this is somewhat made up for by lightning-fast processing times and low minimum withdrawals/deposits. There have been quite a number of complaints however with regard to maximum wins and withdrawals limits, from those claiming their accounts were severely limited and their funds held without explanation.

Customer Service

After doing the rounds for a while you’ll find yourself noticing something of a pattern when it comes to Bwin’s customer support team. The long and short of it being, simply not up to standard. First of all, the fact that the customer service team only operates during limited hours really isn’t good enough for a brand this big. Secondly, response times aren’t always the best, which is no doubt due to backlogs being created while the service is closed. Last but not least, there are one too many reports of less than helpful experiences when it comes to larger withdrawals and betting limits.

Getting Started

The signup process with Bwin is a piece of cake and getting started takes not more than a few minutes. In terms of promotions, it’s interesting to see that the largest space on the front page has actually been dedicated to a free spins promo for the casino. Given that this is the sports betting area of the platform, slightly odd. There’s also a daily ‘Free Bet Mania’ promo up and running, which offers customers the chance to score free bets worth £1 to £50 every single day. As for introductory bonuses and offers, there were at the time of our investigation…none at all!

Bwin Mobile

The total Bwin mobile experience is offered as a 100% browser-based service, with no downloads or software installations required. Given the fact that the main site itself is nothing short of stunning, it’s hardly surprising that the equivalent can be told for the mobile site too. Easy to use, very well presented and fully featured from top to bottom. On the whole, highly recommended all-round.

Bwin Casino

If you decide to check out what’s on offer at the Bwin Casino page, you most likely won’t be disappointed. Far from a token ‘nod’ to the casino crowd, it’s more of a fully-fledged and well-developed casino with literally hundreds of games to choose from. The Live Casino section is particularly impressive, as too is the mobile casino experience and the handful of bonus offers exclusive to casino gamers.

Conclusion

You really only need to spend a few minutes with Bwin to work out why they’re earned such a strong reputation among fans of sports betting. Particularly if you happen to be a fan of in-play betting, which with Bwin is just about as good as it gets. With that being stated, there are simply too many worrying stories concerning limits and withdrawals to cast them off and ignore them. But chances are that for the everyday recreational customer, what’s on offer from Bwin really does tick all the right boxes in spades.
